City Council will hold a special meeting tonight to explore various options for the encampment pilot project. Council will also discuss a recommendation to enter an agreement with Dawn House to arrange for temporary use of the west wing of 805 Ridley Drive to create housing for an additional 17 women and children.
The Kingston General Hospital Site Auxiliary has donated over 345 thousand dollars toward the Kingston Health Sciences Centre redevelopment, The funding will support patient care programs, equipment and staff education. The KHSC said in a tweet “Your commitment to the best health care for patients and families is always inspiring.”
With the upcoming Canada Day long weekend, The Wolf Island Ferry is warning of longer than usual wait times with the highest volume of traffic expected on Thursday and Friday. Passengers are asked to consider alternatives including taking public transit and walking on the ferry.
A reminder that buses will run on a Sunday schedule on Friday July 1st. Garbage and Recycling will be pushed to Saturday. Utilities Kingston and Kingston Hydro will close Thursday at noon and will not reopen until Monday. Libraries, Arenas and The Tett Centre will also be closed on Friday. Free community events on Canada Day are running at the Kingston East Community Centre, Rideau Heights Community Centre, and Woodbine Park. There will be a free fireworks show at 10pm, according to The City the best place to catch the show is at Confederation Basin.
