Hello and welcome to CFRC 101. FM’s Airwave YGK Musicians-in-Residence podcast series brought to you through the generous support of the City of Kingston and Kingston Arts Council! In this episode, you’ll hear a fantastic interview with local artist Ari Bautista also known by their stage name Atiari who sat down with CFRC Arts News Coordinator Genavieve Hinch on May 25th to chat about their creative work. After, you’ll hear a live off the floor recording of Atiari’s wonderful music created in CFRC’s studios during their residency on May 25th and 26th and performed at 5:30 PM on May 26th.
Ari is a local Filipino-Canadian musician, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, producer, and artist whose been performing and recording original music since 2012, but only more recently under the name ATIARI, around the time they released their debut album in 2023. Their style captures contemporary folk, R&B/soul, funk, and pop mobilizing keyboards, vocal and other instrumentation including their Boss RC 505 Mark II 5-channel loop station which they used to create music during their residency. Local folks have seen Atiari before at the City of Kingston’s solar eclipse event in 2024 and joining one of our residents last year, Deandra Henry during their live set. They also joined Miss Emily and friends during Miss Emily’s International Women’s Day Showcase at The Broom Factory in March 2026. Atiari has also collaborated heavily with other local artists across genres including Dupel, Abbie Louise, Kakaow, Mish Mash and Kubina with some of those collabs featured in CFRC’s weekly release radar series in partnership with the Kingston Music Office.
