MP Mark Gerretsen was at Innovation Park yesterday to announce a 2.5 million dollar investment from the Government of Canada to support GreenCentre Canada The funding for Green Centre will go toward a program supporting clean-tech entrepreneurs in areas including energy and fuels, resource recovery, water treatment and consumer products from renewable sources. Green Centre Scientists will produce the successful entrepreneur’s project at no cost to the applicant. The funding is through the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario.

 

Starting September 12th, you will be able to link to International AirTransat flights in Montreal directly from Kingston. Pascan Aviation announced an interline agreement with the City of Kingston offering regularly scheduled flights from YGK airport to Montreal. Passengers can then connect to hundreds of flights through a new connectair service with AirTransat flying to destinations around the world. Flight service from Kingston to Montreal will be offered twice daily.

 

An Internationally award-winning workspace design and manufacturing company known for producing office Pods, has announced a major expansion.

SnapCab CEO Glenn Bostock says “We’ve run out of space, we can quadruple our output if we expand and add another shift at night.”

According to Bostock, the facility on Railway Street will expand by 18,000 sq. ft. to a total of 54,000 sq. ft., stretching all the way to Patrick Street. They would also double their employee base from 40 to close to 80.

Bostock estimates the expansion will begin in the fall of 2023, and will cost $3 million. SnapCab recently launched a Video Conferencing Pod at the NeoCon 2022 Trade Show in Chicago and was an honoree at the NeoCon Interior Design HiP 2022 Awards.

 

The  Sail Canada 2022 49er and 49er FX Senior Championships are going on in Kingston. In 49erFX, the competition has seven teams, including Kingston’s own Ali Ten Hove with Toronto’s Mariah Millen. The races began yesterday and will run through Sunday.
