In this Airwave YGK Musicians-in-Residence episode, CFRC’s Aara Macauley sat down with local electronic artist Luke Barry to chat about his creative work, inspirations and more.
Luke is a computer engineering student at Queen’s University who, over the past two years has become heavily obsessed with electronic music, and started only producing his own music this past October.
During his creative residency at CFRC in our studios on April 13th and 14th, he set a challenge to creativity through keeping a consistent BPM and tone while collaborating with other artists including saintsbury and thisfindsyou with whom Luke deejays at blanktronica, an electronic music event he hosts.
For his live studio performance in our studios, Luke also undertook a DJ set featuring mostly his own creative work ranging from 125 to 130 BPM that focuses on deeper off-peak sounds. Check out his performance in our Airwave YGK feed and video on youtube!
This project is made possible through the generous support of the Kingston Arts Council and City of Kingston.
