CFRC 101.9 FM is pleased to present a live performance by and interview with Airwave
YGK Musician-in-Residence, Oscar Evans!
On May 25th 2025 at 1 PM, CFRC broadcast a great interview with Oscar about the
outstanding jazz music that he has composed in our studios during his spring residency
at CFRC.
Oscar Evans has been composing instrumental jazz music for the last two years and
was incredibly excited to bring his music to the CFRC radio waves and that will soon be
released as an album. Oscar has collaborated with many local jazz musicians
throughout the years and enjoys always mixing it up to see what different musicians can
bring to his compositions. For the live-to-air performance that followed his interview,
Oscar performed with Tiago Cardoso on guitar, Justin Veri on drums, Paul Morrison on
flute and melodica, and Oscar himself on bass. Expect to hear compositions rooted in
jazz improvisation and classic grooves from the 50s and 60s.
Oscar is inspired by many kinds of jazz, ranging from the earliest forms of traditional jazz
from New Orleans, to groundbreaking electric jazz fusion from the current day. Some of
the composers who have influenced this project are Charles Lloyd, Joe Henderson and
Horace Silver. Enjoy this amazing program!
