It’s Wednesday September 21st. Good Morning I’m Karim Mosna with your daily news brief…In the news…

Kingston Police are looking for help in identifying a suspect in connection with the bear spray incident from this past weekend at The Fall Fair. Around 10 on Saturday evening, a group of youth were fighting in front of the large Ferris wheel, when one of the individuals began spraying at the other youth, while other attendees were inadvertently struck by the spray. Witnesses describe the suspect as male, wearing a black or grey tracksuit with a hoodie covering his face. Anyone with information is asked to call Kingston Police.

Queen’s University will be cancelling all afternoon classes next Friday September 30th as The University encourages students, staff and faculty to attend National Day for Truth and Reconciliation events. Principal and Vice Chancellor Patrick Deane says, “This is an important day for our country and our institution to reflect on its past and to take steps to realize a very different future. There is still much to learn and much to be done but we are committed to doing the work to advance reconciliation at Queen’s.”

There will be a sacred fire on Agnes Benidickson Field from 1–3pm. There will also be a display of orange shirts hung from lamp poles on university avenue.

To Mark 100 years since CFRC went on the air, there will be a plaque unveiling ceremony on Friday October 7th at 1pm right outside the station at Carruthers Hall on Queen’s campus. Queen’s University Principal and Vice Chancellor Patrick Deane, Mayor Bryan Paterson, MP Mark Gerretsen, MPP Ted Hsu, and former CFRC Station Manager Steve Cutway will speak at the event.

CFRC will also honor two volunteers, Jim Birch, host of Canadian Shield and Wayne Vermette, host of The Blues Project for their over 40 consecutive years of broadcasting.
