On October 21st 2021, Queen’s University announced a $1 million gift for Indigenous Academics in STEM, that is Science, Technology, Engineering and math based undergraduate degree programs through the Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science at Queen’s. This generous gift was endowed by Queen’s alumnus Norman Loveland and his wife Gay Loveland and builds on the success of the Aboriginal Access to Engineering program that their endowed gift continues to support.
The Lovelands join us in this episode to chat about their inspirations to support STEM students at Queen’s generally and Indigenous students in particular and shed light on the need to build a stronger Indigenous STEM community in addition to the impact they hope their endowment will have.
